After winning their opening match 20-5 against Cyprus, Anthony Farrugia’s side had to bow out of the Pool earlier today as they were heavily defeated by Greece 20-6.

A below average performance by Malta’s Under 19 men led way for an easy victory to our opponents Greece who were already winning 12-0 half way through the game. Malta’s scorers were Jordan Camilleri who netted four and a goal each by Kai Dowling and Michael Cluett.

Malta’s third and fourth matches at the Comen Cup in Larnaca will be played on Saturday at 9.30am against Italy and at 4pm against Egypt.

The Malta squad coached by Farrugia and his assistant Karl Izzo is composed of the following players Ryan Sciortino, David Abela, Michael Spiteri Staines, Michael Cordina, Christian Cluett, Jean Claude Cutajar, Gabriel Pace, Jordan Camilleri, Benjamin Lanzon, Zachary Mizzi, Kai Dowling and Dino Zammit.

totally disagree with you. panelli is the best best youth coach we have on the island. he players he fielded have just finished playing the summer leauge. not all these players were being given the go-ahead by their respective club coaches to attend u19 national training, so pls think before you speak.

if you are well versed in the local wp scene, you should know panelli’s love and dedication towards the sport and his players. you also have to bear in mind that italy and greece are demons in the sport
