The Malta Sports Journalists Association and Special Olympics Malta have signed a collaboration agreement which ensures that both parties work closer together over the coming years.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the President of the Malta Sports Journalists Association Sandro Micallef and Anna Calleja, Director of Special Olympics Malta during a brief meeting, at the offices of the Sports Journalists Association at the Sports Complex Tal-Qroqq.

The agreement ensures formal assurance of maximum contribution of the Malta Sports Journalists Association in reporting Special Olympics competitions held locally and internationally.

On the other hand Special Olympics Malta guarantees that journalists, photographers and camera persons invited to cover international events and competitions are members of the Malta Sports Journalists Association.

Malta is the second country to sign the agreement with Special Olympics, after a similar MOU was signed with the Sports Journalists Association of Serbia.

Other cooperation agreements with Sports Journalist Associations around Europe will be signed in the first four months of the New Year 2018, while an agreement with AIPS Europe (international) is also due to be signed in 2018.

Special Olympics Head of Communications Fiona Hypes, and Special Olympics Europe Euroasia Athlete Leadership Manager Maureen Clarke were present for the signing of the agreement.
