The Malta National Rugby Team lost to the Netherlands with a score line of 19-0 in the European Nations Cup Division 2B match played on Saturday afternoon.

The first score didn’t come until 40 minutes into the game, just before half-time – Netherlands 7 – Malta 0. Possibly a blow to Malta’s confidence given that just 4 minutes later, the Netherlands increased its score to 19. Netherlands 19 – Malta 0 was the score at half time and it remained that way until the end of the match. Right from the beginning of the second half, Malta’s defence much stronger and attacking play threatening the Dutch. Sadly, not enough of a threat to score, but those watching the match confirmed that Malta dominated the second half.

Damian Neill and his squad now face additional pressures regarding transport back to Malta and we wish them well.

In the meantime, in the final Cisk League match of the season, Stompers beat Alligators by 17 points to 0.

This means that Stompers finish second in the Cisk League. Kavallieri the winners.
