Malta Handball Association inaugurate the new season

The fixtures for the ICT Solutions first division handball league for season 2014-15 were drawn. Following months of hard work and preparation, the Malta Handball Association management team inaugurated the new season. MHA President, Mr. Louis Borg, announced that a record of 43 registered teams shall participate this season. Close to 600 registered players shall participate in different categories organised by the Malta Handball Association. Mr. Borg said that 220 matches are scheduled for the new season.

MHA Chief Executive officer, Mr. Clyde Borg Conti, stated that Saturday 27th September the new season will commence with two ‘Super Cup’ finals played at the KMS University Sports Hall. In the women first division category, at 14:00, holders La Salle Unique play against eternal rivals and defending champions Aloysians Zmerc. In the men first division category, last season’s champions La Salle Rivareno play against knock out finalists Luxol. Winners of the Super Cup will be awarded the trophy on court. Mr. Borg Conti added that the Malta Handball Association is committed to continue with the development of local handball with the aim of helping the clubs reach higher standards. The association also augurs that the popularity of the game in Malta will continue to grow at both local as well as International level.

Mr. Borg concluded by thanking the Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport and the Malta Olympic Committee for their continuous help and support throughout the handball season.
