Malta Handball U17 – Participating in 43rd Interamia Cup, Teramo

The U/17 National team selection will be participating in the 43rd edition of the Interania Cup to be held in Teramo, between 4th and 11th July.

This tournament can be considered “the most International handball tournament in the world” because it has brought for 41 straight years to the city of Teramo teams coming from 111 nations representing the 5 continents.

The team has been preparing for the past months under the guidance of Joseph Tanti and Anthony Xuereb. The Interamia Cup will be a good test for the Maltese selection and it will be a valuable experience since there will be a lot of teams coming from all over the globe.

As part of its preparations the National selection played two friendly games against Swedish team Sollentuna Handball Club. The Maltese team performed well in both games. The games served for giving International experience to the younger players. The coaches are satisfied with all their players’ performance.

During the tournament in Italy, Malta will be playing against ASD Antres (Italy), Jsg Echaz Erms (Germany), Urduliz (Spain), and Mosir Bochnia (Poland)

The Maltese contingent is made up of Luigi Rizzo,Nolan Avellino, Liam Harrison, Theo Camilleri, Matthias Caruana, David Brincat, Gary Mercieca, Stephen Galea, John Paul Aquilina, Jeremy Mifsud, Adam Agius, Ryan Aquilina, Nikolas Mannino and Marco Mannino. Joseph Tanti and Mario Mercieca will be in charge of the team during the event.
