The Malta U/19 National Team faced Egypt and Italy respectively in the last day of the 2010 Comen Cup which was held in Larnaca in Cyprus. On Saturday Anthony Farrugia’s side lost 10-5 against Egypt and then later on in the afternoon our Maltese youngsters lost again 18-4 to Italy.

Malta’s scorers against Egypt were Jordon Camilleri with two goals and a goal each by Gabriel Pace, Michael Spiteri and Dino Zammit. In the afternoon game against Italy our scorers were Jordon Camilleri who netted three goals and Michael Cordina.

When contacted in Cyprus by this website Karl Izzo who was assisting Farrugia said that in Saturday’s games we were in some instances of the game very unlucky with a series of goalposts hit when the score was still close. “Today we had a satisfactory performance especially in the morning’s game against Egypt” said Izzo. The current Sirens coach also commented that in his opinion this group of young players has the opportunity to do well in the near future. “We had some fine moments during the game but we must improve physically and we must always look forward to improve, all in all I think that this tournament served as a very good international experience for all the players” remarked Izzo.
