Giving back to local communities is a longstanding Bank of Valletta’s tradition of strong commitment towards sport.  Bank of Valletta has been sponsoring the Malta Basketball Association for over twelve consecutive years. This year the Bank is the official sponsor of the 2012 Malta Basketball Association Men’s 1st and 2nd Division League and Knock-Out competitions. The Malta Basketball Association is also pleased to announce that new courts are being constructed with the Bank’s support.

Presenting the sponsorship, Peter Perotti, Chief Officer Personal Banking, said “As the leading financial partner in major sports disciplines,  Bank of Valletta’s financial commitment guarantees  sports’ sustainability.  We are pleased not only to confirm our sponsorship towards the game of basketball but also to strengthen our relationship with the Malta Basketball Association.  The Bank is proud to assist the Association with the construction of the new courts as this will increase accessibility for the game and continue to improve the local standard which is registering some marked improvements thanks to the commitment and initiatives of the Association’s hard working committee”

Mr Perotti said that sport was one of the major pillars under the Bank’s community programme, through which the Bank gives a percentage of its profits back to the communities in which it operates by supporting worthy programmes and initiatives.

Addressing the media, MBA President Paul Sultana thanked Bank of Valletta for its direct involvement to support one ofMalta’s most popular basketball seasonal tournaments.  “It is thanks to this support that MBA can continue to organise leagues and improve its facilities to provide the best standards that the game of basketball deserves. The knock-out competitions will soon be underway and as in previous editions we are expecting highly interesting games”.

Details of the Bank’s support to the Malta Basketball Association were given today by Mr Sultana and Mr Perotti during a press conference at the basketball complex in Ta’ Qali
