Local Shooters win Eley- NSRA medals from UK

This year’s edition of the Eley-NSRA UK Competition attracted thousands of target shooters from all over England, Scotland Wales and the rest of Britain including also from Malta and Kenya regiments.

13 Maltese Shooters from the Malta Air-Rifle and Pistol club and On-Target Club participated jointly in no less than five different shooting disciplines and in the process winning 8 silver medals and two gold medals. The winners were: Steven Vassallo & Mario Mallia Milanes – Gold Medals in Air-Pistol, Eleanor Bezzina and Josette Galea Calleja – Silver Medals in Air-Pistol. Alison Vella – Silver Medal in Air-Rifle. Patrick & Suzanne Azzopardi and Charles Wallbank Silver Medal in Benchrest 0.22 Rifle. Lawrence Darmanin – Silver Medal in Prone 0.22 Rifle and finally Anthony Mifsud with a Silver Medal in Free Pistol 0.22.
For this reason, last Saturday the MARPSC organized a Medal Presentation Party at the Bidnija Ranges where his Hon. Dr. Buontempo, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Innovation and Sport presented the medals to the winners. After interesting speeches by MARPSC President Lawrence Darmanin as well as by MSSF President Dr Carmel Cascun, his Hon. Dr. Buontempo emphasized his government’s pending interest to set up the National Shooting Ranges for the benefit of not only Maltese shooters but also for the thriving local sports tourism industry.
The new MOC President, Mr Julian Pace Bonello was also in attendance at this event together with MSSF Committee members and MARPSC shooters, their families and friends..
