Birkirkara complete routine win against Rabat Ajax

Nikola Vukanac’s and Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza’s goals set the Stripes on their way to a comfortable 2-0 win over Rabat Ajax in the Hibernians Stadium.

Birkirkara took the lead just minutes after the half  an hour when teenage sensation Ryan Camenzuli’s corner was meet by Nikola Vukanac to head home for 1-0 lead till the end of the first half.

Rabat Ajax was twice denied goals for a dubious offside position, and also when close from Caruana and Micallef before Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza rounded the best week of his life after the recent call in National team with a goal as he flicked the ball from Jhonnathan low cross.

Birkirkara are now on top of the table with nine points from three games, while the Magpies are on the back of the table with just one point

Birkirkara coach Paul Zammit fielded an offensive 4-3-3 formation as Jhonnathan and Ryan Camenzuli supported central striker Jean Paul Mifsud Triganza. The former Valletta mentor made three changes. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, Joseph Zerafa and Nikola Vukanac replaced suspended Ryan Scicluna, Haruna Shola and Joselito.

Rabat Ajax coach fielded a defensive 4-5-1 formation as Lithuanian Astrauskas was the lone striker supported by captain Adam Smeir. Today’s signing Patrick Borg from opponents Birkirkara was not included in the first 18.

The former Hibernians defender made two changes as Joseph Caruana and David Azzopardi replaced Christian Muscat and Clive Brincat, who strained the groin in the 3-3 draw against Melita last Saturday.

33min: Birkirkara took the lead. Sebian Nikola Vukanac retur with a bang as he headed Ryan Camenzuli corner for a deserved lead.
