Lija-Iklin had an easy win against lowly-placed Siggiewi as they created much more actions during the game. Following this game Lija-Iklin are second in the standings on 12 points from 5 games while Siggiewi have only point also from 5 games.

All the actions in the first period were created by Lija-Iklin. A corner kick taken by Carl Xerri created havoc in Siggiewi’s area and the ball was somehow cleared away. Liam Camilleri was then fouled just outside the area, Siggiewi keeper Nicolai Baldacchino partly saved the free kick shot by the same player and a defender cleared the ball away to safety.

After Neil Pisani was fouled on the right flank, Baldacchino fumbled the ball from the free kick by Calvin Micallef and a defender cleared the ball to safety.

In the 34th minute Lija-Iklin were awarded a penalty when Pisani served Xerri in the area and was tripped by a defender. Lija-Iklin keeper Justin Tonna took charge of the spot kick and drove the ball well over the bar.

Four minutes before the break Lija-Iklin opened the score when Xerri headed in from inside the area after a well-taken flag kick by Luke Gatt.

The second period was also dominated by Lija-Iklin. Malcolm Fenech served Daniele Cini in the area and Baldacchino foiled him with a timely sortie.

The score became 2-0 in the 46th minute as Micallef served Xerri with a through ball who entered the area after beating a defender and shot past Baldacchino with a hard grounder.

The pressure by Lija-Iklin was incessant. Xerri served Cini with a through ball and after Baldacchino partly saved his effort from outside the area the ball was somehow cleared to safety. Luke Gatt then released Rydon Gatt on the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner following his cross-shot.

Four minutes before the end, Pisan should have scored a third goal but he drove out from a very ideal position in the area after a perfect cross from the left flank by Micallef.

Two minutes before the end Lija-Iklin scored their third goal when Pisani was fouled outside the area and substitute Zachary Holland scored with a rising shot from 30 metres in the top left hand corner of the net.
