Next Sunday the Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK) will continue with the fourth competition of the Honda National Motocross Championship 2017/2018. Races are set to start at 10: 00 am at the ASMK Race tracks in Ta’ Qali.

Meanwhile last Sunday ASMK organized the seventh program of the 2017/2018 Autocross National Championship sponsored by Pasta Poiatti. On this day 17 competitors divided into two classes were registered.

Vince Farrugia on his Volkswagen Polo won the Modified Class A Final, followed by Karl Micallef on Ford Fiesta and Andrew Pisani on Vauxhall Nova. Noel Zammit on Fiat Punto and Keith Borg on Vauxhall Nova came fourth and fifth respecively.

Ryan Scicluna on Ford Fiesta won the Modified Class B Final followed by Brandon Lee Vassallo on Peugoet 205. The Standard Class was again won by Deane Farrugia win on his Citroen AX. In the same category followed Jerome Peplow on Kia Avella, Chris Formosa on Ford Fiesta, Nicovich Chircop on Peugoet 106 and Kyle Agius on his Renault 5 Campus.

Finally the Demolition Derby for small cars (those that are of 4 meters in length) was made up of 41 registered competitors made of whch only 34 were eligible to participate. In the beginning the participants did two exhibition runs on the wet oval track. For 40 minutes in this Demolition Derby Race, the drivers did their best so that their vehicles will continue to operate despite the voluntary collisions made in accordance strict game regulations. The battle lasted between Fernado Cremona on his Peugeot 205 who was participating for the first time and Leo Butler on a Lada Samara who was driving his 21stcompetition.  Thus determining the Winner and the Runner-Up.

Cremona had his vehicle working a little better to that of Butler where the latter had the car almost shutting down several times. Although Cremona stood a greater chance to try to stop Butler’s car, he could not take advantage of the situation as his car was severely damaged at the back including locked rear wheels.  The game ended when Cremona’s engine came to a halt while Leo’s car was still moving slowly on its own power. Thus the main referee Johann Pace waved the Chequered Flag on Leo’s Lada as the 2018 Small Cars Demolition Winner and secondly on Fernando’s Peugeot 205 as the Runner-up. Both competitors shook hands amongst the cheer of their supporters.

ASMK is pleasured to announce that the next Demolition is one for vans and it is expected to take place during a night event on Saturday 28 July 2018. Applications will be published in the coming days together with the Vans Demolition’s Rules.
