Lancing Manor in Malta for cricket tour

Over the weekend the Marsa C.C played two games against new touring team Lancing Manor C.C.

On Saturday the Marsa team batted first and were in trouble losing two quick wickets for ten runs. Sarfraz Ali then steadied the batting making twenty five runs and Mark G Sacco made twenty three runs. The best innings came from Derek Ali who played a patient role and ended making forty nine runs including four fours. Mike Caruana and Will Nicholls both made sixteen runs. The home side totalled 179 runs from their forty overs. The main wicket takers for Lancing were Steve Luckhurst and Nick Brown who both took three wickets. Neil Reynolds chipped in with two wickets.

In reply the visitors fell short by twenty runs. Dave Smith top scored with thirty one runs. Andrew Ferguson and Nick Brown both made fifteen runs while Chris Salt scored thirteen runs. For Marsa Kevin Krishna was the main wicket taker with three while Sarfraz Ali took two. Marsa win the first game.

On Sunday the home team batted first again. New player Simon Mayeri opened the innings and made fifty five runs from forty nine balls including four fours. Bikram Arora also playing in his first game for the home team scored twenty eight runs from fifteen balls including two fours and two sixes. Nowell Khosla played a delightful innings and scored a century including six fours and four sixes. The Marsa team totalled 251 runs. Andy Livermore was the main wicket taker for Lancing with two.

Lancing Manors reply was a better score then the day before but still fell short by forty one runs. Neil Reynolds scored twenty nine runs, Andy Livermore thirty two runs,Dave Smith twenty nine runs, Owen Voice thirty nine runs not out and Chris Salt twenty eight runs not out. For Marsa Ronnie Sacco was the main wicket taker with two. Marsa win the game and the series two to nil.

On Tuesday the Marsa team will be taking on returning touring team Stockport Grammar School in a twenty over game starting at 4:00pm. On Thursday, Saturday and Sunday forty over games all starting at 10:30am
