On Saturday the Cricket Winter league continued with the Krishna C.C team taking on the Marsa C.C.

The Krishna team won the toss and elected to bat. Nowell Khosla and John Grima opened the innings, and what a great opening partnership it was. They put on sixty eight runs and both were out at that score. Grima being bowled for twenty nine runs which included four fours and Khosla run out after making thirty five runs which included two fours and a six. Greg Symons playing in his last game in Malta managed two runs before being bowled. Bikram Arora was on his merry way, having scored twenty eight runs from twenty five balls which included two fours and a six, when he smashed a full toss in the direction of Haroon Majeed , who just stuck out his left hand and took an amazing catch. Towards the end of the innings Mike Caruana scored twenty two runs. From their thirty overs theKrishnateam totalled 138 runs. For the Marsa team Derek Ali bowled well taking three wickets while Joy Ghoseroy took two.

The Krishna team feared the worst since the Marsa team had in their batting line up, Malcolm Crabbe who in the previous weeks friendly scored a century and Frank Spiteri had scored over eighty.

Nowell Khosla was a man on a mission and in his opening spell of bowling took three wickets, and Kevin krishna took one which had the Marsa team in a spin and only sixteen runs on the board. Danger man Spiteri was still at the crease and with Tony Azzopardi with him, they started rebuilding the innings until Spiteri was bowled, he had made forty runs from thirty  five balls. Haroon Majeed joined Azzopardi and they continued good progress towards their target. Azzopardi was stumped very quickly by John Grima and the game seemed over for the Marsa team. Majeed hit a couple of boundaries to keep theKrishnateam on edge but was well caught by Arora in the deep. Majeed made thirty three runs from twenty three balls. Once he was gone theKrishnateam quickly made light work of the rest of the batsmen. Marsa team were bowled out for 119 runs. Bikram Arora and Matthew Gilllard took two wickets each while Mike Caruana took one. TheKrishnateam earned nine points from the win while Marsa had to settle with one.

Next Saturday the Marsa team take on the Melita team. Both looking for their first win.

In the Morning the Sunoco cricket academy will be from 9:00am till 10:30am.
