Knights bound for 2010 Championship glory

Players in the Knights strip continued a successful 2010 when they held out their rivals and took a 2-nil victory over Inspire in the round two final of the Wheelchair Rugby League Challenge at Swatar on Sunday.

The final was a repeat of the previous round clash where the Knights also accounted for Inspire. The final however saw a try each to Jonathan Bonnici and London based Neil Bradley for the Knights to secure victory.

Earlier, a 1-nil victory over Kavallieri RFC was enough for Inspire to coast into the final. Kavallieri RFC were a merger of their male and female teams that contested the first round Wheelchair Rugby League Challenge.

Newcomers Overseas RFC scored two draws; the game that decided their fate however, was a 2-2 result against the Knights after two early tries to Joss Howland put the Overseas ahead. The Knights hit back with a double to the ever valuable Neil Bradley.

With their second victory in as many rounds, the Knights effectively won the 2010 Wheelchair Rugby League Championship unless Kavallieri Mens are able to regroup for the final round which they would have to win and the Knights would need to place fourth or lower on that final match day.

Round Three will be played on Sunday 12th December 2010 at St Martin’s College, Swatar. For more information, visit
