Kunsill Malti għall-iSport are offering all children between the ages of 6 and 10 years, from the Cottonera area (including localities: Vittoriosa, Cospicua, Senglea, Kalkara and Zabbar) FREE sport activities. This programme commonly known as SportsBuzz, is a 10-week programme providing weekly sessions every Wednesday between 5pm and 6.30pm at the Cottonera Sports Complex. SportsBuzz will start on Wednesday, 23rd March and applications are now open and are being received.

SportsBuzz offers a variety of free sports for both boys and girls giving them the opportunity to participate in multi-sport taster sessions in a safe and secure environment. These can include Football, Basketball, Handball, Netball, Dancing, Rugby, Gymnastics, Judo/Martial Arts, fun games and much more. All coaches working in the ‘SportsBuzz’ programme are qualified in their respective sport.

Apart from experiencing a variety of sport activities the real and potential benefits that children will gain through taking up physical activity and sport are both physical and mental. Children participating can have fun, make new friends, build their confidence and self esteem in order to develop a positive attitude towards life, whilst generating the mentality of leading a healthy lifestyle through sports.

KMS offers this programme as part of its aim to instigate a sport culture and exercise in general, into our children’s lives and increase the levels of participation, including specifically from the Cottenera Area. KMS believes that Sport is an important contributor to the health and well-being of the population. It is not only a powerful means of promoting health, but also a means of building social capital and related benefits, including education, youth development, social inclusion, crime prevention and economic development.   Further information about this programme can be obtained from  the Programmes Section at the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport Head Office on tel. 21660658/9 or via e-mail: programmes@sportsmalta.org.mt.
