Kirkop Utd   4        Zurrieq    0
Kirkop are sole leaders in the Section after registering six wins from 6 games as their closest challengers Birzebbuga were beaten 2-0 by Mgarr Utd. They managed to score four goals against Zurrieq who offered a very feeble challenge.
The early pressure came from Kirkop. Ishmael Mizzi released Karl Caruana on the right flank and Zurrieq keeper Maurice Scicluna neutralised the ball from his cross. James Abdilla served George Aquilina with a through ball on the left flank and after the ball was partly cleared from his cross Mizzi drove over the bar from the rebound and Caruana dribbled past an opponent on the right flank who then crossed to Stefan Micallef but he drove out from outside the area.
In the only action by Zurrieq in the first period, Zack Falzon was fouled outside the area and the same player drove over the bar from the free kick.
Kirkop resumed with their pressing and Aquilina served Asin Scerri with a through ball and Scicluna saved his effort from outside the area to a corner.
In the 27th minute Kirkop deservedly forged ahead when Brandon Farrugia served Aquilina with a through ball in the area and he scored with a hard diagonal hard grounder, and three minutes later the same player should have doubled for Kirkop but he skied the ball from inside the area with only Scicluna to beat after a Caruana perfect cross.
In the last action before the break Stefan Micallef released Aquilina on the left flank and Scicluna saved his shot from outside the area with a fine diving save.
Apart from the three goals scored by Kirkop the second period was very short of actions with Kirkop keeping the upper hand till the final whistle.
Nine minutes after the restart Kirkop doubled their lead. Abdilla served Caruama on the right flank who enterd the area after beating two opponents and scored with a hard rising shot.
Kirkop resumed with their pressing. Abdilla released Micallef on the left flank, who then crossed to Caruana but he drove slightly over the bar from the left edge of the area and Micallef was then fouled outside the area and Scicluna saved the free kick shot by Luca Mizzi.
In an action by Zurrieq Zack Falzon dribbled past two opponents on the right flank and the ball missed the upright from his long-range effort with Kirkop keeper Malcolm Attard beaten.
In the 68th minute the score became 3-0 as Caruana dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and served Ishmael Mizzi in the area with a cross who had the easiest of tasks to tap the ball in the net from one metre.
The fourth and final goal was scored in the 71st minute when substitute Ryan Caruana released Aquilina on the left flank who after entering the area Scicluna saved his shot to a corner, the same player served Ryan Caruana with a short pass from the flag kick and he scored with a swerving shot from the edge of the area.
The last action before the end was created by Zurrieq as Wayne Cutajar dribbled past an opponent and he missed the uprught from outside the area.
