As part of their post-season Hungary tour, Maltese rugby champions Kavallieri faced Budapest Exiles RFC in what resulted in a 29-27 loss for the visiting side. It was a very close game that could have gone either way against a Budapest team that happens to be the premier rugby club in Hungary.

David Borg captained the Kavallieri team in his final match before retiring and was given an emotional farewell at the end of the match with an outstanding ovation, capping off a fantastic rugby career.

The match was closely fought with each team responding to each other’s tries. The Kavallieri tries came from Adrian Bartolo, Josef Zahra, David Borg and a brace from Josef Cutajar. The first try by Bartolo was converted. Kavallieri could have drawn the match but a difficult conversion hit the post.
