Juve Soccer School Malta boys impress again in Torino

Sunday, February 19, 2012, 21:56

A selection of boys from the Juventus Soccer School Malta have once again defeated their counterparts from Torino in a series of three friendly matches played over the past days in Italy. These friendly games are part of series of scheduled visits to Torino organised by the Juventus Soccer Malta branch.

The U/9 selection (boys born in 2003 and 2004) won their two friendly games 9-6 and 5-1 against JSS Grugliasco and against Juve JStars Servaise respectively.

Led by Head Coach Charles Borg the U/9 selection was formed of the following players:

Giancarlo Borg, Karl Said, Patrice Pace, Manuel Mifsud, Lee Frendo, Isiah Micallef, Jake Buhagiar, Dejan Buhagiar Nathan Agius, Mark Agius and Brooklyn Borg.

The U/11 selection (boys born in 2001 and 2002) won their game 5-2 against a selection of their age from the Juve JStars Servaise branch.

The below children who formed part of the U/11 squad were led by coach Mark Marlow:

Liam Attard, Gianluca Borg, Matthew Borg, Matthew Grech, Andrea Darmanin, Keelan Azzopardi.

Apart from playing this friendly on Sunday morning, Marlow’s players underwent a pre-scheduled intensive training session on Saturday under the guidance of Juventus Soccer School coach Andrea Bagnato with the aide of Mark Marlow.

The entire group which totalled 17 young players had also the opportunity to watch Saturday night’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Catania won 3-1 by the bianconeri. The young members of the Juventus Soccer School also had the opportunity to greet personally the Juventus players and assist just centimeters away from the touchline the 45min warm up session on the pitch of the Juventus Stadium in almost freezing temperatures.

This was the first official trip to Torino of the 2011/12 season organised by the Juventus Soccer School Malta. The next trip to Torino will be a competitive experience as a selection of Maltese players will take part in the 2012 Juventus Academy Cup which will take place between the 28th April and 2nd May 2012.

The below are some photos from this trip.

Well done. I am Victor Grech the grandfather of Mark Aguis. I saw the article and pictures of your current visit to  Turin. As a former player myself (Hamrun Spartans and Melita SC-Toronto) I taught a lot about our youth days, training on hard ground, with little or no facilities. What a difference. Anyway have a good time and good luck with all your endevours, My best wishes to all and my blessings to my nephew Mark Aguis. Proset.
