Local sports journalist and pundit Josef Galdes has been appointed registered chief editor of local sports website www.sportinmalta.com.

Mr Galdes has been employed with Smash Communications Ltd for eight years where he coordinated the sports department of the station. Mr Galdes has in the past hosted several radio and TV sports related programmes and has commentated over than 200 local and international football games for TV.

He has recently also contributed with his commentaries on Melita’s Malta Stars Sports channel.

Commenting on this appointment Mr Sandro Micallef, the outgoing editor of the site ,said “After four  years heading the site as editor I feel that it is time to move ahead with other new challenges and I therefore decided to hand over the role of editor to Mr Galdes who I believe has all the credentials to take this project forward.”

Micallef added “Having taken off in the latter part of 2009, www.sportinmalta.com gained popularity and remained loyal to all of its readers by promoting nothing than local sports on its pages”

Commenting on his new role Mr Josef Galdes said that he was overwhelmed when he was approached to take the editorial responsibilities of the site.

“I would like to thank both Sandro and Catherine Micallef co-owners of the site and directors of Colourbars Ltd who have entrusted me with this responsibility to take forward what is described by many as an innovative project for Maltese sports” said Mr Galdes

Mr Galdes concluded by stating “I will promise that I will enhance and build upon the already good content this site has, and will keep on striving to keep strong the site’ motto – We are the Premier site in local sports reporting”

The new editor can be contacted on info@sportinmalta.com.
