Joe Mifsud calls Extraordinary General Meeting

Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 16:19

At the request of the majority of the Members of the Association the Executive Committee of the Association, in conformity with the Association’s Statute, has decided to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association to consider an amendment to the Statute of the Association.

The Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on  Thursday, 18th February 2010 at  6.00 p.m. at the Centenary Hall, Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali. Registration of Members of the Extraordinary General Meeting will start at 5.30 p.m.

This is being considered as a very delicate Extraordinary General Meeting for Dr. Mifsud who is yet to publically confirm if he will seek re-election in the upcoming July MFA Executive Elections. It is believed that Bjorn Vassallo the San Gwann delegate and front liner against Mifsud has been very busy in these past days to make sure all is set for this Thursday’s EGM. Vassallo who is also an MFA Executive member and a TV Sports pundit has often confronted Joe Mifsud with accusations of mismanagement and TV rights irregularities over the past years. Vassallo is currently the official campaign manager of Norman Darmanin Demajo who is almost certain to contest for the hot seat as MFA President in July.

Sportinmalta.com is informed that the  Agenda of the Extraordinary General Meeting will include the following items:

Verification of the composition of the Extraordinary General Meeting and of the Delegates entitled to vote.

Proposed Additions and/or Alterations to the MFA Statute

Council Members for the year 2009/2010 and the approved Delegates for the year 2009/2010 of Member Clubs  which have Premier or First Division status will be able to attend this week’s important meeting. Joining them will be:   Ten (10) approved Delegates for the year 2009/2010 from each of the Second and the Third Division Clubs. In the case of these Clubs, the voting (10) Delegates in each Division shall be chosen during the transaction of the first item on the Agenda in accordance with Rule 31 of the MFA Statute which also stipulates that in case that a ballot will be needed to be held to establish the ten (10) voting Delegates from each such Division, preference will be given to those Delegates present at the beginning of the Extraordinary General Meeting and whose Member Clubs do not have a Council Member representing them through the Standing Committee for the Division concerned.

In this meeting it will be decided who will be the  approved Delegate for the year 2009/2010 of each Member Association. In the case of delegates, any reference to the approved delegate means his approved substitute when acting on his behalf.
