33 year old Roberto Pasqualli who plays Beach Soccer on a professional basis in Italy and captain of the Italian Beach Soccer National team, will be coming to Malta as a guest of honor at the Malta Beach Soccer Championship which will kick off on Wednesday 29th June at Pretty Bay in Birzebbugua with an activity for all the family.

Addressing a Press Conference earlier today Mark Marlow organizer of the Malta Beach Soccer Championship said that over the past months he embarked on this project and his intentions were to organize once more this event in a professional manner. In fact it was revealed that in order for the general public to have access for more information about this year’s event a new website has been launched namely and a you tube channel named Malta Beach Soccer will also feature promotional material and highlights of the Championship. A face book page has also been set up for players to enquire about registrations and about the rules of the game.

Marlow thanked all the sponsors who made it possible that this event could be organized again with particular reference to Gillette who will be the main title sponsor. He mentioned that a song was also composed specifically for this year’s event which will be played during half times and after the games to be accompanied by the sexy cheerleader models that are set to give the extra entertainment aspect for the Malta Beach Soccer Championship 2011.

Marlow stressed that the Championship will be played between the 1st July and the 21st August but appealed to the public to make their way to Pretty Bay in Birzebbugia on June 29th (Public Holiday) for the Open Day event from which proceeds will go for the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The confirmed teams so far total 12 in the men category and 5 in the women category. For the men category the plan is to have 16 teams in total to form four groups of four teams each so the organizers are encouraging participants to show up and express their interest to participate till Wednesday 29th June.

The Malta Beach Soccer Championship 2011 event will also include an array of other events ranging from Zumba sessions, a Handball Tournament and a Goalkeepers Challenge organized by Mario Muscat’s Goalkeepers School which will be organized within the weekends program at Pretty Bay.

Bjorn Vassallo the CEO of the Malta FA who used to be a co-organizer with Marlow in previous editions said that the organization of Beach Soccer Events has gone from strength to strength. Vassallo said that the MFA is always willing to help such initiatives. The MFA CEO revealed that FIFA has recently enquired the MFA why is it that Futsal and Beach Soccer are not represented in the FA’s Council so theoretically Vassallo said that with the ever growing interest of Futsal and also Beach Soccer eventually these two sports will be represented in the Council in due course.
Vassallo remarked that the Malta Beach Soccer Championship will have an added value this year as top Spanish International player Ramiro Figueiras Amarelle will also be coming to Malta to conduct a seminar for both Beach Soccer Referees and Coaches.

Joe Caruana Curran who represented the KMS at this launch said that the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport is always ready to invest in similar projects especially because such events help to maximize the sporting culture in our island.
