Following their defeat to Andorra, Malta’s basketball team bounced back in style to secure the bronze medal in their European Championship Division C against Moldova with a 85-77 scoreline. Denmark won the tournament with a relatively comfortable 87-69 win against Andorra.

An agressive start by the Maltese gave them a comfortable lead, with a 45-33 score in Malta’s favour at the halfway mark. But Moldova did not throw in the towel and with five minutes on the clock they were trailing by five points but with Joshua Jackson in fine form the locals won their first eve bronze medal in this competition. Jackson was Malta’s most prolific player with 26 personal points, Addison Bonnici managed 18 points while Benetton Treviso starlet Samuel Deguara potted another 17 points.

Deguara and Jackson also scooped up personal honours
