Important Wins for Floriana and Sliema Wanderers

Hard fought win for Floriana sees them keep pace with leaders Valletta, Hibernians and Birkirkara as they had to wait till the 58th minute to open the score against struggling Rabat Ajax.

Floriana now have 8 points from 5 games while Rabat Ajax stayed bottom of the table with just 1 point from 5 games. Floriana assistant coach Lewer opted for goalkeeper Jonathan Debono as he also fielded Tyronne Farrugia alongside towering defender Aaron Brown. Floriana influence midfielder Joseph Borg was still nursing his injury and was unavailable for the Englishmen.

Rabat Ajax coach Silvio Vella also gave the nod to under study goalkeeper Jonathan Azzopardi ahead regular goalkeeper Shaun Mintoff. Striker Astrauskas and Rtan Micallef was again unavailable for the Magpies.

In today’s second match joined leaders Birkirkara failed to keep the 100% record when they was beaten by Sliema Wanderers.

Sliema Wanderers now have seven points from 5 games as the Stripes stayed with 12 points with 5 games.

Sliema Wanderers has a dream start and inside the first thirteen minutes was two goals up by Ivan Woods and Gonzalo Mucchiardi.

Again Sliema had a perfect second half start when Alex Muscat scored from the resulting corner.

On the 55thminute Rowen Muscat scored a consolation goal when he slot the ball pass goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
