This was the last league match of the season but both teams put all they had into it to provide an intriguing encounter.   Hotsticks had the better of the early exchanges, winning four penalty corners to Rabat’s one by the 18th minute.   Ryan Brincat shot just past the post for Rabat in the 21st minute but Hotsticks drew first blood when Shawn Grima shot them ahead in the 27th minute, a lead they held up to half time.

Rabat came out motoring in the second half and scored two goals in first six minutes through Jason Vella and Mario Galea.   True to form Hotsticks reacted strongly and Shawn Grima notched his second goal to equlaise for Hotsticks in the 45th minute.  They went ahead in the 50th minute when Steve Portelli scored as a result of a penalty corner action.  After Ryan Dalli missed a chance to put Hotsticks further ahead they did not capitalize on three other penalty corner opportunities but held out and went on to register a hard earned victory despite Rabat’s late efforts.
