Next Sunday the Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK) is to continue with the third event of the Honda Motocross National Championship 2019/2020. This activity is to held at the ASMK Sports Complex in Ta’ Qali and starts at 10:00am.

ASMK is pleased to announce that it has again concluded the negotiations with Gasan Zammit Group for their return to be the main Official Sponsor of the National Motocross Championship for this league. The Executive Committee would like to thank the management of Gasan Zammit Group for their contribution towards the ASMK’s sporting events by sponsoring once more the HONDA Motocross League and for their support towards the ASMK.

Meanwhile on Sunday 26th January 2020 the Association organized the fifth event of the ASMK Pasta Poiatti National Autocross Championship 2019/2020 where eleven competitors registered for this activity all in the Autocross Modified class.

Noel Zammit on his Fiat Punto dominated the three heats of the day by winning the highest points thus securing his preferred place on the Start Line of the Class A’s Final Race. Along with Zammit the other qualified competitors were Karl Micallef on his Opel Corsa, Noel Vella on a Ford Fiesta, Jean Paul Grech on his Peugeot 106 and Andrew Pisani on his Opel Nova.

Micallef went into the lead and was followed closely by Vella and Zammit. During the first lap Vella and Aquilina were seen taking the Joker Lap first which resulted in Vella and Aquilina taking the lead of the race ahead of Micallef. The race continued with Vella at the helm but soon he was forced to retire as his Fiesta developed an engine power loss and he made it to the track exit at a slower speed. Consequently Vella was the first competitor who was forced to retire to minimise his engine problems thus he finished taking 6th place.

Meanwhile the race continued with Micallef taking the Finish Flag ahead of the rest on track. Also this was the 2nd registered win of this season for Micallef who was followed by Pisani, Grech, Zammit and Aquilina.

The Final B’s Start Line was composed of four competitors. These were Kyle Agius on his Opel Nova, Nicovich Chircop on his Peugeot 106, Justin Buttigieg on another Opel Nova and Jonathan Camilleri on an Opel Corsa. All finalists did a very good launch right to the first bend but soon the race was Red Flagged for all competitors to stop racing because Camilleri over-turned his Corsa after hitting the tyres safety barrier on the side of the track during his first Lap. The race was stopped to ensure that there was no danger or obstacles to the other competing drivers. This race was later re-run and Buttigieg won this Final followed by Chircop and Agius.

Meanwhile, the Association announced a small change with regards to Autocross event number 4 that on 16th January was abandoned due to bad weather. This race is to be continued on Sunday 9th February 2020 and starts at 1.00pm.
