Laferla White Hart   1    Qormi Pata Poiatti    6

Umpires   James Mizzi    Edward Hughes

In the third minute Qormi were awarded a penalty corner and Juan Sarcia scored with a scorcher to send Qormi into a 1 – 0 lead.     On 12 minutes Sarcia netted his and his side’s second.  On 18 minutes Kyle Micallef entered the D  from the left flank and let fly a beauty to send his team 3-0 up.   Qormi were dominating the game at their own pace and further increased their lead when on 22 minutes Sarcia grabbed his hat trick and Qormi’s fourth, the score remaining unchanged as the half time whistle blew.

White Hart seemed a more determined outfit in the second half and, after not availing themselves of a penalty corner opportunity on 39 minutes, they were awarded a penalty stroke a minute later and Luke Brincat reduced the arrears to 4 – 1.   Qormi still controlled the match but were more relaxed in their approach and on 53 minutes John Williams snapped up a rebound off the White Hart gioalkeeper’s pads and netted Qormi’s fifth from close range.  On 65 minutes  Zachary Degiovanni  gave his team a 6 – 1 lead keeping Qormi well in the hunt for the league title.

Lightshop Hotsticks   6       Rabat Depiro   2

Umpires     Shawn Mifsud      Raymond Micallef

As early as the 6th minute Steve Portelli shot Hotsticks ahead.    Rabat reacted and, after a spate of penalty corner awards, on 12 minutes Matthew Buhagiar equalized for his team.   The game ebbed and flowed from end to end, both teams missing scoring opportunities but on 23 minutes  Julian Zahra scored Hotsticks second goal.    After Hotsticks missed a golden chance on 23 minutes, Rabat raced down to the other end and Charlot Antonelli leveled the score at 2-2.   Both teams gave their all to gain advantage before half time but the score remained unchanged.

On 48 minutes Portelli produced a sharp turn inside the D and slotted home to grab his second and Hotsticks’ third.   Tempers frayed as time ebbed away and Rabat were reduced to ten men which gave their opponents more space to operate down the flanks.  On 62 minutes Lukas Plaehn scored Hotsticks’ fourth with a crisp shot from the top of the D and a minute later his brother Silas netted their team’s fifth goal.  All credit to Rabat who battled away and were awarded three penalty corners in succession but to no avail  as they threw caution to the wind.    On 69 minutes Charlot Sammut completed the scoring to give Hotsticks  a 6-2 victory keeping them on top of the table enjoying a two point advantage.
