Young Stars started brightly and after exerting early pressure they went ahead in the 6th minute when Marvin Vella scored, meeting a cross first time from the top of the D. In the 12th minute Joseph Dalli finished off another crisp move which developed down the right flank putting Young Stars 2 – 0 up. These two early goals stunned White Hart and after a period when midfield exchanges dominated, Young Stars won a penalty corner in the 25th minute and Mark Camilleri grabbed their third goal after a prolonged action inside the D. In the 29th minute Mark Camilleri saw his reverse stick shot well saved by White Hart goalkeeper Robert Vassallo Agius. Half time was reached with Young Stars well in command of the game.
The second half started on the same note and in the 41st minute Marvin Vella scored his second and Young Stars’ fourth goal with a smart hit into the right hand corner of the net. White Hart reacted and their efforts were rewarded when Kyle Micallef reduced the arrears in the 55th minute with a well taken shot in open play, only for Young Stars to score their 5th goal a minute later when Mark Camilleri scored his second goal following a penalty corner action. The result of 5 – 1 was to be changed once again in the 60th minute when Joseph Dalli increased his tally scoring his second and Young Stars’ sixth goal. However White Hart did not give up and pulled one back in the 65th minute when Paul Torpiano netted after a Kyle Micallef effort rebounded to him off the bar. Marvin Vella then scored his third and Young Stars’ seventh goal in the 67th minute to complete a resounding 7 – 2 victory .
