Qormi Poiatti    4       Laferla White Hart   1

Umpires   Reno Cremona      Edward Hughes

A quiet first half which provided few thrills to write home about.  In fact on 14 minutes, as a result of a penalty corner action, Ramon Chircop, White Hart’s custodian, dived full length to keep his goal intact.  On 28 minutes his opposite number Shameson Mifsud affected a diving save to deny White Hart.  The half time whistle sounded with the score unopened.

The second half took  quite a different twist.  On 39 minutes Qormi took the lead as John Williams pushed home from close range picking up the pieces after a penalty corner had been partially cleared.   This seemed to ease their tension and on 47 minutes Steve Tanti scored, with a delightful reverse hit shot, into the top corner of the net from a tight angle on the left side of the D to send his team 2 – 0 up.  Thomas Degiovanni shot Qormi into a 3 – 0 lead on 59 minutes before Charlo Sammut pulled one back for White hart to reduce the deficit to 3 – 1.  There was still time for Zachary Degiovanni to shoot Qormi into  4 – 1 lead which they held until the final whistle.   This not only secured victory but also the deserved title of League champions for the seventh time in a row.

Lightshop Hotsticks      6        Rabat    0

Umpires  James MIzzi       Raymond Micallef

Hotsticks took the lead on 19 minutes when Silas Plaehn netted.  After missing three penalty corner opportunities around the 22nd  minute mark Hotsticks went further ahead just before half time when Steve Portelli shot home to send them into a 2 – 0 lead.

The second half was dominated by Hotsticks with Rabat’s defence keeping them at bay being well marshalled by Shawn Falzon until on 57 minutes Ryan Dalli netted Hotsticks’ third goal.   Two minutes later Hotsticks were awarded a penalty stroke and Plaehn netted his second making no mistake from the spot sending his team 4 – 0 up.  On 63 minutes Julian Zahra added a fifth and on the stroke of time, Zahra scored his second to give Hotsticks a 6 – 0 victory.
