Hibernains 3

Rabat’s defensive approach was not enough to avoid a heavy defeat to one of this season’s title contenders Hibernians. The Paolites scored after 33minutes and doubled the score two minutes later in what has been Rabat’s black out in the game as they conceded two similar goals from dead ball situations.

Rabat never recovered so it was just a formality for Michael Woods’ lads to score the third goal which came from a penalty.

The Magpies conceded the two goals of Hibs after lack of marking on almost carbon copy situations.

The game witnessed an unfortunate accident when Cohen collided with Rabat keeper’s Sean Mintoff head. The latter had to be hospitalized after he was suffering from serious neck pains.

Melita 1

In the other match Valletta made it also four wins out of four games after they managed a 5-1 victory against newly promoted Melita FC. Valletta suffered a slight shock after they had gone a goal up, when Melita equalized from the penalty mark after Julian Galea was floored by Ian Azzopardi.

In the half time talk with the result standing at 1-1 Miller might have thought that the ex Malta international Martin Gregory now coaching Melita had reserved a surprise for the second half but it was not the case. Miller’s double substitution Mifsud – Barbosa around the 60minute play proved to be a successful double change as from then onwards Valletta played better and did not stop to score until the final whistle.
