Hibernians Women’s Team start their European campaign with a loss

Hibernians Women’s Team commenced their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a 5-0 loss against Konak Belediyespor of Turkey.

The Paolites will be now crossing swords with Dutch side Twente on Thursday, with the latter winning their opening match of the group 2-1 against Hungarian club Ferencvaros.

Twente are hosting this mini-tournament.

Hibernians’ first XI:

Rachel Borg; Rodianne Borg, Emma Xuereb, Dorianne Theuma ©, Jade Flask, Ruth Steer Chetham, Martina Borg, Mandy Debono, Shona Zammit, Charlene Zammit and Francesca Chircop.

Meanwhile, Maltese international Rachel Cuschieri featured in Apollon Ladies’ 5-0 hammering of Klaksvikar Kvinnur of Faroe Islands in their opening match, in Cyprus. She featured for all 90 minutes and contributed in the opening goal after delivering the corner from which the Cypriot club broke the deadlock.

Their next fixture is on Thursday against WFC Hajvalia from the debutants of Kosovo.
