Hiberians and Sliema share the spoils

In a sunny afternoon strugglers Sliema Wanderers and Hiberians shared a goalless draw in a lively encounter with both set of defence dominating the opposing forwards. Sliema Wanderers now have nine point from nine games while Hiberians moved to ninth place with seven points from also nine games.

Mark Marlow started with a 4-3-3 formation, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was preferred as a lone striker supported by John Mintoff and James Paris. Ini Etim Akpan was preferred from Hungarian Viktor Szentpeteri with the Nigerian born keeper married to a Gozitan making his debut this season from the first minute. Mark Miller opted for 4-4-1-1 line up with Paul McManus and Andrew Cohen forming the attacking force. Hiberians were coming to 2-0 defeat against Tarxien Rainbows while Sliema were also defeat by arch rival Floriana 1-0 last week. Hiberians were missing Ryan Camilleri while Sliema W. could not start with Obinna Obiefule from the beginning of the match as the player is not yet hundred percent fit. Jackson Lima Sequeira was returning from a one match ban. Hiberians’ last victory was on the opening day of the current season against Floriana way back in September.

33min: Hiberiuans went close to score when from a free kick by Andrew Cohen was blocked by Etim Akpan and a rebound shot was blocked by his team mate Edward Herrera.

74min A Mifsud Triganza cross from the right saw Mario Muscat reach out for the ball before substitute Obinna Obiefule could try to hit home.
