Local handball has its last competition left to play before the end of the season. The knock-out semi-final stages will be played on Saturday 11th following the preliminary rounds that have been played. In the women’s category, cup holders La Salle ZT Developments managed a convincing win against a young but determined Kavallieri RS2 side to qualify to the semi-final with a 29-18 win. La Salle will now face Luxol in the semi-final whereas Phoenix Dolcino and Aloysians Zmerc will be vying for a place in the final.

In the men’s category, Luxol Si Mangia, despite the absence of talismanic captain Joe Tanti, managed to beat Kavallieri RS2 to book a place in the semi-final. They will now face Phoenix SMS Mondial who have recently announced the appointment of a new Danish coach for next season. In the other preliminary round match, Aloysians ProMinent were made to sweat by competition debutants HMS as they squeezed through to the semi-final with a 19-17 win. Aloysians now face champions and cup holders La Salle BHS in next Saturday’s semi-final round.
