Handball: EHF delegate Alan Grima for Men’s U17 European Open

After 19 appointments for international matches during the current season, European Handball Federation (EHF) delegate, Alan Grima received another important assignment for the 2017 Men’s U17 European Open Championship which is going to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden between the 3rd and 7th of July.

Alan Grima will form part of a strong group of delegates which also includes Felix Ratz (Switzerland), Oyvind Togstad (Norway), Bent Dahl (Norway), Klaus-Dieter Convents (Belgium), Cesar Castillo (GBR) and Lars Berndtsson (Sweden), who will be responsible for 10 young referee couples from across Europe and who form part of the EHF Young Referees Programme. These referees will follow a very intensive 5-days programme which includes lectures on specific topics, a written test, and a physical test, besides refereeing several matches every day under observation.

Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Israel, Belarus, Faroe Islands, Austria, Netherlands, Finland, Estonia, Georgia and Luxembourg are taking part in this tournament for handball players born 2000 or younger. Sweden, Norway, Poland and Iceland are the main contenders for this year’s title. Liseberghallen, Valhalla Sporthallar and Scandinavium are the three venues which will host all the matches of this European Open.
