Birkirkara demolish fragile Hamrun

Birkirkara brushed off a depleted Hamrun side after they managed a comfortable 4-0 score which ultimatelly does not reflect the true picture of the game.

This was Paul Zammit’s first win as B’Kara coach after his side lost to Valletta last week in his debut / return on the Stripes bench.

First Half:

4min. A Trevor Cilia shot finishes just above the crossbar.

10min. Polli employed and right back today trips Terrence Vella inside the penalty area and referee conceeds a penalty.

11min. Fromm the 11 meter mark Trevor Cilia bears Hamrun keeper Borg for the 1-0 advantage.

18min. Polli’s free kick end above the crossbar.

32min. Vella misses the target after he did not coordinate well his left footer first timer shot.

33min. A cross by left back Matthew Gauci of Hamrun sees Ribeiro heads just out.

Second Half:

69min. Angus Buhagiar squeezes in an easy goal after some good fottwork by Terence Vella from the left.

91min.  Substitute Leighton Grech drives through a fragile Hamrun defence to beat with ease young keeper Andrea Cassar who came in earlier to replace injured Borg.

92min. Leighton Grech registers a poker for Bkara and a personal brace on yet another counter attack by the Stripes.
