Hamrun’s Dragan Sejic passes away

Dragan Sejic, the Serbian goalkeeper’s coach, has passed away this morning at the age of 33. Sejic who was assisting Steve D’Amato as the Hamrun goalkeeper’s coach this season, is reported to have suffered a heart attack in the early hours of Thursday.

Dragan was first contracted in Malta by Floriana FC when at that time Floriana had opted for a team of Serbian players and technical staff. Dragan joined Floriana as goalkeeper’s coach in the same period when the greens had registered Darko Kristeski, Zoran Levniac and coach Zoran Popovic.

Last summer Sejic opted to join Hamrun Spartans where he regularly trained Ivan Casha and all the other Spartans goalkeepers. These also included the young keepers in the Spartans Youth Nursery.

When contacted to give his comments about Dragan, Steve D’Amato the Hamrun coach said “I’m shocked to have heard this sad news this morning. It was the Club’s President who called me to inform me about what happened” D’Amato added.  “I had a very healthy working relationship with Dragan and all I can say is that he was very dedicated and professional in his job” concluded the Hamrun coach.

Hamrun officials have already started to contact Dragan’s relatives in Serbia. A young Maltese lady who is believed to have been dating Dragon for some time is also helping the Hamrun officials and local authorities to make the necessary arrangements for his funeral which most probably will be held in Serbia.
