White Hart  3    Hotsticks  5 (aet)       Umpires  Edward Hughes     Robert Aquilina

The game ebbed and flowed with first White Hart taking a 3 – 1 lead by the 55th minute only to be pegged back to 3 – 3 with eight minutes of normal time left.    Hotsticks then scored twice in the first half of extra time to win 5 – 3 and book their place in the semi finals.

After a quiet start Liam Azzopardi shot White Hart ahead in the 6th minute.   Hotsticks reacted and, although they exerted pressure on the White Hart rear guard, winning six penalty corners, they did not convert any and White Hart held one goal advantage on the change of ends.   The second half started brightly and Paul Torpiano shot White Hart into a 2 – 0 lead with a crisp effort from the top of the D but Hotsticks pulled one back when Steve Portelli scored in the 48th minute.   This prompted a White Hart reaction and Mark Zahra scored their third goal in the 55th minute after a melee in the D restoring their two goal advantage.  Hotsticks had other ideas and two minutes later Simon Baldacchino found the net to reduce the arrears.  In the 62nd  minute Steve Portelli hit home from a well orchestrated move to level  for Hotsticks and the final whistle blew sending the game into extra time.

After both teams probed each other’s defences, Hotsticks struck twice when Steve Portelli notched his hat trick in the 4th minute and Simon Baldacchino scored his second and Hotsticks’ 5th  goal in the 6th minute to complete the scoring and give Hotsticks victory.  As a result Hotsticks will meet Young Stars and Qormi will face Rabat in next Sunday’s semi final stage.
