The Malta Shooting Sport Federation is extremely proud in the great progress that the olympic airgun shooting sport is attaining within its ranks. This is especially being achieved by the female shooters in both air-rifle and air-pistol shooting disciplines. In less than a month, the three top female Maltese shooters have together managed a tally of 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in prestigious and highly competitive foreign shooting competitions. This notwithstanding the limited facilities available locally for this sport to progress.

This weekend the MARPSC held its 4th shooting competition of this season at Bidnija. Here again our top female shooters made it to the top of podium with some excellent scores. Alison Vella who is the revelation of this year, shot a tremendous and personal best score of 576/600 points to win the air-rifle event. She was followed in 2nd place by newcomers Isaac Calleja while Gian Luca Azzopardi and Isaac Zammit were in third and fourth places respectively.
In the ladies air-pistol event, Eleanor Bezzina followed up her recent success overseas by scoring an excellent 380/400 points for first place. Josette Galea Calleja was second.
The men air-pistol event was won by Ray Cacciattolo with a 549 points and followed in second place by Stephen Vassallo with 536 points. Martin Greach was third with 508 points followed by Mario Mallia Milanes with 486 points in 4th place.
The competitions were judged by international ISSF referee Mr Gino Galea.
