GIDA win 5-4 on penalties

The match was controlled by Mr Sandro Spiteri with the help of Peter Abela and Francis Bartoli. MESA were the better team in the first half and created some good chances but GIDA experienced keeper, Sean Sullivan made a couple of good saves. It was no surprise though when just before half time MESA took the lead through Glenn Magri. In the second period MESA continued were they left and Carmel Formosa made it two with a splendid chip over Sullivan just after the re-start.

It seemed all over as MESA continued to control the game. Mid-way through the half Luke Satariano managed to get one back for GIDA. From then on it was all GIDA and they equalised with five minutes to go through a header by Johan Nybet. MESA looked shocked but could have won it in the last minute but the shot went wide with Sullivan beaten. It was down to penalties and here the experience of Sullivan showed off as he managed to save the second penalty which in the end proved to be crucial as GIDA made it to the semi-finals to face MFCA (Malta Football Coaches Association) next Monday at the Centenary Stadium.
