Galea jirbaħ lis-sprint ta Marzamemi biex jitla l-ewwel post fis- Sicily Triathlon Series

Ic –  champion ta’ Malta Keith Galea rebaħ it- tieni tellieqa tas- sicily triathlon series biex tela’ fl- ewwel post fil -klassifika ġenerali tas -serje. Din it- tellieqa kienet Sprint Distance Triathlon li saret gewwa il- post storiku ta Marzamemi. Din it -tellieqa kienet organizzata mil- federazzjoni taljana tat -triathlon kellha it- titlu tac -champion reġjonali ta Sqallija u allura ħafna atleti ta livell gholi hadu sehem f’ dan l-avveniment fosthom kien hemm l atleti professjonali Enrico Schiavino u Ennio Salerno li kien il favorit li jirbaħ it tellieqa

Galea ħareġ mill – ilma 10 sekiondi biss wara il grupp prinċipali. Wara transizzjoni tajba ħafna huwa irnexxielu jilħaq l atleti li kienu fuq quddiem fl-ewwel dawra tar rota. Ġie iffurmat grupp ta’ ħames atleti fuq quddiem. Galea prova diversi attakki fit- tieni dawra u induna li l- avversarji tiegħu kienu qed ibagħtu.

Fit- tielet u l-ahhar dawra Ic -champion ta’ Malta għamel il- mossa li tagħtu ir -rebħa. Huwa attakka fl- ahhar telgħa u irnexxielu jagħmel id differenza. Galea kompla jafas sat- tieni transizzjoni biex ikolli vantaġġ tajjeb. Sakemm beda il -ġirja huwa kellu vantaġġ ta’ 20 sekonda. Grazzi għal- ġirja tajba u b’sahita Galea irnexxielu ikabbar il- vantaġġ tiegħu biex rebaħ it- tellieqa f ‘hin ta 59 minuta u 20 sekonda biex issa qed fl- ewwel post fil klassifika ġenerali tas- serje

Galea wins Marzamemi sprint to claim top spot in Sicily Triathlon Series

Malta Triathlon Champion Keith Galea won the second race of the sicily triathlon series to bounce on top of the series General Classification. The second race was a sprint distance triathlon held in the historic place of Marzamemi. The race which was organized by the Italian triathlon federation had the title of Sicily’s regional championships thus attracted a lot of high profile athletes including top professional Italian athletes enrico schiavino and Ennio Salerno who was the favourite to win the race

Galea came out of the water few seconds behind the main group. Following a very fast swim-bike transition, the Champion caught the leaders in the first lap of the bike. A group of five was formed who was leading the race. Galea made several attacks in the second lap and noticed that his rivals were struggling.

In the third and last lap on the bike, Galea made his winning move. He attacked in the last uphill section which no one manged to hope his restlessness pace on the hill thus opening a good gap. Seeing this Galea continued in his effort till T2. He then when on to tackle the 5km run and managed not only to hold on to his advantage but managed to increase his lead to win the race in 59minutrs 28 seconds to win the race and claimed the top sport in the general classification

Contacted after the Race Galea said that is very pleased with his performance. He did no expected to win the race but thanks to good race tactics and very powerful legs during the race help him to achieve a great result. Galea who is under the Government’s Flexi Training Scheme would like to thank his coach Dermot Galea, his swimming coach Catalin Stan,  his sponsors Garmin Malta BBB Cycling Malta, Jaycee Malta, Mochika Outdoor Life, Lucida Laundry, dgtri.com, Starbene 24/7, Team Barry Malta International Challenge Marathon, his Club Birkirakara St Joseph, the Malta Triathlon Federation, the Maltese Olympic Committee and Sportmalta for the constant support.
