In reply to the comments re statements released by myself as listed on press release by Sliema Asc , I would like to point out that I met with Paul Privitera on the 27th of November to discuss training schedule of National Team since Sliema had six players called up in this initial selection preparing for the European A Qualification round being played in Holland between the 5th and 8th February 2015 , he made it clear that since this was his first full year in charge of the senior team the month of January was very important for his training programme and players were to train with him on Monday , Tuesday , Thursday and Friday – On other days i was free to have them training with me – I in turn replied that even for my National Team January was a crucial month as the February tournament results would have a big impact on qualification for European Championships 2016 being held in Belgrade.  To try and avoid clashes I chose Wednesday as one of the training days and included Friday (4 sessions in January) and Saturday – Sliema coach was adamant that Friday players were to train with him – Since he was convinced about this i took the argument no further , called up the players who duly attended Wednesday session but not Friday session – Even though I was aware that Paul and Committee didn’t allow players to attend this session it is important to say that none of the Sliema called up players informed me they were not going to attend.  Situation was that all other elements of  my National Team were training in one part of the pool on Friday while Sliema players were training with their coach in the other part of the pool. I felt that this was not right and informed the executive with this happening. When Clint Debono approached me amicably to wish me all the best for 2015 , and asked if everything was ok , i in turn replied that i clearly wasn’t with this situation and would be informing the council accordingly. Clint went to discuss this with head coach Privitera and members of the committee that were on deck and came back requesting an immediate meeting to discuss further – Putting this request forward to the executive the result was negative.

It is always my wish and intention to participate with the best team possible and some Sliema players are a very important part of my National Team which was ultra successful in past two years
