Fun runs and walks

The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate has teamed up with Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club in a drive to promote the benefits of physical activity. During the Road Running Series, a 5-kilometre fun run and a walk will be organised aimed at suiting all ages and all levels of fitness.

Aerobic exercise in the form of walking and running is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to stay physically active. Everybody can do it since it is versatile, and the intensity can be tailored to the individual’s abilities and goals. Benefits of such physical activity include: the control of weight and reduction in obesity; improvement of and decreasing the risk of cardiovascular conditions and diabetes; counteracting osteoporosis; fitness improvement and building up the skeletal system; socializing, improving self-esteem and alleviating depression.

Fun runs and walks will be held on the 25th June, 23rd July and 20th August at 19hrs at Mtarfa Bypass. For more information, interested participants are to contact the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate on 23266000.
