The Gozo Motocross Association organised its first Fun Race of the season, on Sunday 26th January at Ta’ Xħajma Motocross Track. Races started at 1pm.

A rider reshuffle took place in all of the three classes.

Class C saw young Mark Camilleri achieve first place followed by Steve Cassar. Camilleri got maximum points even though he was challenged by his fellow riders. In third place, new comer Luke Caruana also did well.

In Class B Matthew Zammit, with his new 2020 Honda CRF 250cc, first. Zammit was proud to achieve 60 points following a considerable period of time off-track. Keith Bugeja came in third.

In class A, Steve Xuereb also recieved maximum points and won first place.  Jorn Stellini and Daniel Portelli achieved same points, however Stellini won second place as per GMA regulation that states that when two riders have the same amount of points, the rider who won the first heat of the day would be the winner. Portelli came in third.

Round 5 of the Gozo Motocross Championship 2020 fuelledbyenemed will take place on Sunday, 9th February 2020. This is a very important meet for the GMA. Paul Croxton, one of the top 5 AMCA northern riders and YMSA Champion, will be visiting us and will also be participating alongside our riders in the fifth round. Meanwhile a one–off memorial race, in remembrance of the late, European multiple Champion, Cliff Barton, will be organised, featuring the best two local riders of the day from classes A and B and Paul Croxton. The winner of this race will be taking home a trophy originally won by Cliff Barton in one of his championships.

Meanwhile GMA riders’ coach, Mr Scott Donavan, was asked to choose two Gozitan riders. In May 2020, Steve Xuereb and Robert Spiteri will be competing in the AMCA Northern area Championship, alongside British and European riders.

More information will be given later.
