Week two of the new MSV Life National League at the Eden SuperBowl saw two big wins for defending champions okmalta.com and J. Grima & Co, against Malta Int. Airport and Rogantino’s (ex-Royal Shock) respectively. Ramis are top after their 6 – 2 victory over St. James Hospital (ex-HSBC), although level on fourteen points with okmalta.com. Other matches saw Supreme claim a six point win over The Clan, while there was a four-all draw between Turu’s Knights and Fina.

Okmalta.com made it two wins in a row against Malta Int. Airport, having won 6 – 2 in their week one clash with J Grima & Co. M.I.A. could do little to halt their opponents’ steamroller of a series, as okmalta.com took the early advantage with an 820 – 767 opening win, and then went four up with a 753 – 614 game to result. Game three was their best, 844 – 636 the one sided score line, for an 8 – 0 whitewash. Simon Burke (okmalta.com), 649, male bowler of the week. M.I.A. are still to pick up a single point, two fixtures into the new season.

J Grima & Co were also 100% winners against Rogantino’s in week two, after a week one defeat at the hands of okmalta.com. They made short work of taking game one with an easy 801 – 641 win, but it was a much tighter affair in game two, which they only managed to take with a nine pin advantage (745 – 736). J Grima & Co were back on easy street in the last of the set, winning it 795 – 704 to seal all eight points. Sammy Borg (J Grima & Sons), 589. Peter Sammut Briffa (Rogantino’s) 564.

Ramis occupy the top spot in Div I having won 6 – 2 against St. James Hospital, on the back of a full point victory over M.I.A. in week one. Ramis drew first blood with a 779 – 697 game one win, and then doubled their lead with an 808 – 754 game two win. Game three saw St. James Hospital claw back their quarter share of the spoils with a 771 – 764 game win, but Ramis held onto the series points with their 83 pin series advantage (2298 – 2215). Ray Falzon Reale (Raimis), 591. Ernest Agius (St. James Hospital), 554.

After losing 8 – 0 against Fina in week one, Supreme got off the mark in week two with a 2 – 6 win in their scrappy encounter with The Clan. Supreme opened the scoring with a 663 – 735 game one win, but it was soon all square as The Clan responded with a nerve wracking 718 – 717 equalizer. Supreme took game three with a 695 – 712 win, to tie up the majority victory. Tony Paris (Supreme), 583. James Vassallo (The Clan), 548.

The final match of the week produced a four-all draw between Turu’s Knights and Fina. The Knights would eventually be grateful of their opening 811 – 740 win, which proved instrumental in their clinching the draw. After that initial slip, Fina came straight back in to the fray with a 785 – 807 game two leveller, and then also claimed a close third game, 712 – 722. Turu’s Knights’ series total of 2308 against Fina’s 2269 handed them the extra points, and so the tie. Justin C Scicluna (Fina), 629. Tiziana Carannante (Turu’s Knights), 600, female bowler of the week.
