The third annual BOV Platinum Cup Tournament is being held by the MTBA at the Eden SuperBowl this weekend, where a maximum attendance of 48 tenpin bowlers has been confirmed.

This hugely popular tournament is an ‘open’ event, but participants must have a current established game average, as per the tournament rules. A handicap system will be applied to allow all bowlers to compete for the top spots, regardless of their bowling abilities.

A very attractive cash prize fund in excess of €1500 has been put up by the MTBA, made possible by the continued support of Bank of Valletta, who have been and remain, the BOV Platinum Cup’s main sponsors since its inception in 2013.

The BOV Platinum Cup comprises two separate male and female divisions, with all entrants competing in a twelve-game qualifying round on Friday and Saturday. The top six qualifiers from each category will then go through to the second round on Sunday morning, and this will be a ‘round-robin’, comprising five single game face-offs, adopting a system of extra bonus points for high games and match wins or draws. The final stage will then be competed between the top three qualifiers in each division, in a stepladder final.

Play commences at 1130 this Saturday morning, with two consecutive squads having been formed to cope with the high demand. Round one will continue at 0930 on Sunday morning, with the Round Robin stage and stepladder finals taking place on Monday evening, starting at 2000hrs.

Entrance to the Eden SuperBowl is free of charge for anyone who would like join in as a spectator, and show their support.
