Tyran Grech then pounced on a faulty clearance by a Hamrun defender and keeper Isaac Zammit Cordina saved his effort from outside the area, and in a Hamrun counter-attack, Jacob Rakban served Sp[iteri in the area and Pieta keeper Dylan Cacciatolo foiled him with a timely sortie.

Hamrun mounted two other actions in a row. Daniel Zerafa won a loose ball from an erratic pass and he missed the upright from outside the area and Ayrton Sammut served Ryan Bonello in the area and Cacciatolo had to dive at his feet to smother the ball.

In a Pieta reaction,Cain Attard served Dylan Xuereb with a cross from the right but Luke Greck foiled him with a timely tackle and after Xuereb was fouled on the right edge of the area the ball was declected to a corner from the free kick by Terrance Agius.

Micallef served Bonello in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner, Zerafa was then fouled on the right flank and the ball missed the upright from Grech’s free kick and Spiteri was fouled on the left edge of the area and from the free kick by the same player Cacciatolo partly saved the ball which was cleared with difficulty, and in a Pieta counter-attack,Grech served Attard on the left flank who after entering the area lobbed the ball over the bar.

The secon period was dominated by Hamrun as they mounted six actions ina row. Rakban was fouled outside the area and a defnder cleared the ball from the free kick by Micallef. Micallef served sp[iteri on the left flank and a defender cleared the ball to a corner which was well-taken by Grech and and the ball hit the crossbar from a header by Rakban with Cacciatolo beaten. From another well-taken flag kick by Grech Rakban headed slightly over the bar. Bonello then served Spiteri with a cross from the right and his shot from the left edge of the area was blocked by a defender. Cacciatolo then saved a header by Rakban after a Spiteri corner kick and then palmed the ball away after a shot from outside the area by Micallef.
