Once again, the coming weekend will see another referees’ exchange taking place as part of agreements continuously being reached between the Malta FA and other Football Associations.

For the first time, local referees will be travelling to Kosovo to officiate in their top league while Kosovar match officials will be coming over to take charge of BOV Premier League matches.

On Saturday 4th March, Elite referee Philip Farrugia together with FIFA assistant referee Christopher Francalanza, Elite assistant referee William Debattista and Elite referee Etienne Mangion as 4th Official, will be in charge of the Superliga match between KF Trepça’89 and KF Ferizaj to be played at Mitrovice Stadium, kick-off at 13.00hrs.  (KF Trepça’89 are presently first in the league with six points ahead).

The team will include Adrian Azzopardi who will act as referee observer during the match KF Liria vs. KF Besa which will be officiated by Kosovar referees.

Such an opportunity for top referees and assistant referees to officiate abroad is an avenue for further development.
