Fair result in keen game

A draw was a fair result in this keen game as both teams had their good moments. St Andrew are now in fourth position on 26 points from 15 games while San Gwann are fourth from bottom on 18 from 15 games together with Sliema W  but the latter have a game in hand.
 
The early pressure came from St Andrew after only two minutes when Jake Palmier served Daniel Saliba with a cross in the area from the left flank and the ball hit the uprigth from his shot with San Gwann keeper Mark Vella beaten and a minute later Vella foiled Palmier with a timely sortie after he was put through in the area by Karl Mifsud Bonnici.
 
In a San Gwann attack, Aaron Borda was fouled outside the area and Dylan Galea drove out from the resultant free kick.
 
St Andrew regained the initiative and mounted four actions in a row. From a well-taken flag kick by Clyde Cumbo the ball was cleared to another corner. Saliba served Palmier in the area but he drove over the bar. Mifsud Bonnici served Palmier in the area and Zachary Bowman foiled him with a timely tackle and Mifsud Bonnici served Palmier in the area but he drove over the bar with an open goal at his mercy.

In another San Gwann attack, Isaac McCarty served Dylan Raynor with a through ball and St Andrew keeper Gianluca Felice came out of his charge and fouled him just outside the area. The resultant free kick was taken by Dylan Galea and Felice saved his hard grounder.
 
 The last three action before the break were all created by St Andrew. After Mifsud Bonnici dribbled past an opponent outside the area Vella saved his shot in two attempts. Jacob Falzon was then fouled outside the area and Matthew Navarro floated a high ball in the area from the free kick and Palmier headed the ball in from inside the area but the point was disallowed for off-side and Mifsud Bonnici served Palmier in the area and after Vella partly saved his shot the ball was cleared by a defender.
 
San Gwann created the first two actions after restart. Aaron Borda served Pace with a through ball the latter returned the compliment to Raynor in the area and Felice saved his shot to a corner and after Pace was fouled outside the area Felice asved the free kick shot by Justin Agius.
 
Clyde Cumbo then dribbled past two opponents on the left flank and after veering to the edge of the area he executed a low cross but the ball was cleared as he found no takers.
 
San Gwann won a corner kick on the left flank which was well-taken by Agius and Galea headed slightly over the bar. 
 
St Andrew mounted two further actions: Mifsud Bonnici was fouled outside the area and Vella saved the free kick shot by Erik Gollcher and Mifsud Bonnici served Cumbo on the left flank and the ball was cleared to a corner from his cross, the flag kick was taken by the same player and Navarro headed slightly over the bar.
 
San Gwann came close to break the deadlock seven minutes before the end when Raynor served Nickolai Bickle in the area and after Felice partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away by a defender, and in the first minute of added time St Andrew substitute Michael Johnson served Luke Mercieca with a square pass in the area but San Gwann substitute keeper Liam Farr saved his close-range shot.
