These were two precious points lost by the Saints especially after their satisfying victories over Sliema and Neptunes just a few days ago. For Exiles it was their second drawn match in a row but their tenacity brought them a positive result.

Exiles recovered Karl Rizzo Naudi and Paul Fava played for San Giljan after his injury although he was also present in the Valletta tournament of last week which was won by the Saints.

San Giljan have only themselves to blame after frittering away easy scoring occasions and also failing woefully in man ups scoring only once in nine expulsions.

Exiles’ insistence paid off with three strikes from six man ups and Marton Toth’s scoring ability against his old side.

The turning point in the match came late in the third session with the Saints on a double lead but Boris Letica, face to face with the Exiles goalie, saw his shot saved with Toth reducing the arrears before the session ended.

Exiles then drew level in the last session and, although San Giljan were ahead once more through a second Bogdan Rath penalty, Exiles were back on even terms with the Saints frittering their last two man ups.

San Giljan are momentarily on top of the table but they have played two games more than Neptunes and Sliema just behind them.

Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 6 – M’scala MORE 12
(1-4, 3-1, 1-5, 1-2)

M’scala kept up their determined pace at the top of the standings leaving the other three teams to sort it out between themselves for the other places.

They obtained a good opening session advantage but were pegged back by a fighting Ta’ Xbiex outfit in the next period so that at the interval M’scala were only in front by the odd goal in nine.

The league leaders then restored their better lead after the break when they swept into a solid five goal advantage.

The last session was short on goals with M’scala keeping a close watch on their opponents and also holding on to their lead to register their third seasonal win over their adversaries.

The winners had Joseph Kayes increasing his personal tally with a poker of goals and there were also hat tricks from Gabor Hedegus and John Licari.

Ta’ Xbiex had Charles Bugeja and Keith Galea with two goals apiece.

Ta’ Xbiex: L. Borg, J. Cremona, A. Galea, M. Asciak, L. Suranyi 1, C. Bugeja 2, K. Galea 2, N. Bonello Ghio, S. Cini, C. Saliba, R. Attard, O. Zammit, Y. Szeles 1
