Excess RP Bidnija 2 – CF Eindhoven 8

An early goal scored by Zouthane sent all the Maltese delegation in a déjà vu of yesterday’s match but it was not the case as today florin Anton’s players kept concentrated till the very last minute to register a more respectable score than that in their debut.

Friday’s debriefing session proved worth it and healthy as the Excess RP Bidnija players had the opportunity to speak between themselves about the first encounter and organized better themselves ahead of another 40minute damage control session against CF Eindhoven.

The Dutch were not happy with the end result since they forced till the very last second for a plus nine score sheet in order to  have a better goal average in the case of a draw in their last group stage against the hosts Zelezarec.

Anton opted again to start the game with Brian Baldacchino between the goals, Alexander Ribic, Vojko Martinovic, Clint cope and himself as first five.

When Zouthane scored twice in the first eight minutes of play for the prospective tournament winners it looked like Excess RP Bidnija were about to throw the towel, but two Serbian minds on court had other ideas. (Martinovic and Ribic)

Vojko Martinovic was successful to net the ball after a collective team build up action for 2-1. This promoted and alerted CF Eindhoven since they quickly made the score 5-1 with two goals from master of ceremonies El Allouchi and another goal by Zouthane the former surely tipped for the best player award of this group.

Yet again it looked like a come back was in the pipeline for the Maltese  as Martinovic scored a fine goal for the 5-2 to send the Maltese delegation and players for the half time talk on a high.

Seconds before the players made their way to the dressing room Ribic, Cope and Anton built up again a lengthy possession leading to a Martinovic’s attempt which went inches away from the target. Clint Cope had also a half volley shot well saved in corner by keeper Grimmelius.

The first minutes of the second half could have seen the team led by Club President Mario Vella get closer to their opponents as from a set piece again it was Vojko Martinovic who missed the hat trick from a Ribic corner.

Keeper Adrian Lia who came on to replace Baldacchino as from the start of the second part had the difficult task to keep the Dutch at bay but had to bow to three more goals in the second half for the final score 8-2.

Alan Ellul who was not utilized yesterday was always on the alert when called on court today as was Christian Micallef who with his experience replaced when necessary his team mates on several occasions’. Jonathan Sammut was also useful for the team as he came on sporadically for segments through the match.

Unlike the other teams Excess RP Bidnija has a limited 10 men squad so the efforts of all the team members must be credited and appreciated thoroughly.

Tomorrow is a rest day for  all the teams as they prepare for the final day of this UEFA Futsal Cup Tournament 2011.

The last match for Excess RP Bidnija is on Sunday at 6pm against  Istanbul Universitesi of Turkey.
