EuroHockey III Championship: Update

Malta squandered three early chances and were punished immediately with three counter attacks to go three nil down by the end of the first quarter. They were endeavouring to hold their own to get to the half time with the score unchanged. The game swung in the third quarter when the Maltese captain, Mark Camilleri was hit on the helmet and the field doctor decided that he should not continue playing. This had an adverse effect on the team which still managed to concede just one other goal. The team fought gamely in the fourth session, but were reduced to ten men when a player was yellow carded and tired legs in the searing heat, meant that Belarus added two more goals to their tally to win the game 9 -0.

This morning Turkey beat Slovakia 4-1 in a well controlled match with only three green cards shown. The final two group matches between Belarus and Malta, and Lithuania and Croatia will be played later today. It appears that in all probability the semi final line up will be as follows: Belarus VS Turkey and Italy vs Croatia.
